Last year, Ashoka and Nordea initiated a cooperation with the accelerator program `Hello Nordics´. Focusing on integration and inclusion in the Nordics, the initiative enabled ten social entrepreneurs to scale the impact of their innovative solutions to improve both social and financial inclusion of marginalized people in the region.
This year´s theme of the accelerator is Climate Actions and Circularity and Accenture is joining the cooperation together with Nordea and Ashoka. The theme is very much in line with our society´s challenges and a key to meet the Paris Agreement. There are many accelerators out there today, but a unique aspect of Changemakers Accelerator is that the participating entrepreneurs are selected based on their potential to create a systemic change, meaning they have a potential to be game changers for the fields of climate action and circularity.
“Climate action and social entrepreneurship are important focus areas for Nordea as the world today is faced with so many new challenges, many of which entrepreneurs will help to solve. Therefore, we find it important to engage in cross industry partnerships and run programs like Changemaker Accelerator. By doing this we can learn and create solutions that will accelerate social entrepreneurship even further”, says Erik Feldt, Head of Community Engagement, Nordea.
“Being a responsible, sustainable business is central to our approach and we will use our technology, skills and resources to support this innovative project. We want to help the entrepreneurs in the program take the next step in addressing the climate and environmental challenges we face”, says Ingrid Alexanderson, Corporate Citizenship Lead at Accenture in Sweden.
The purpose of the program is to support the participants to create impact-scaling plans and to connect them to a community of committed stakeholders who can contribute to maximise the impact of their solutions. Entrepreneurs will be provided with mentoring support and business networks to the social entrepreneurs, enabling them to develop and implement innovative solutions to address the climate and resources crisis.
“We are very pleased to continue our cooperation and to launch a new accelerator to support social entrepreneurs in developing and scaling solutions for climate action and circularity across the Nordics. Nordea and Accenture are, with their Nordic networks, capabilities and commitments to create value for the good of all, great partners for us”, says Emma Lindgren, Co-director Ashoka Nordics.
Nine unique initiatives for climate action and circularity.
Changemakers Accelerator has identified nine innovative Nordic social entrepreneurs with the knowledge and ambition to create disruptive long- term solutions to protect the environment and tackle major climate issues. With their unique solutions for climate and circularity they will enter a program that will run over the coming eight months. Each company will be matched with a team of “allies” from Nordea and Accenture who will provide guidance, expertise and support to fast track the projects and create systemic impact.
The following entrepreneurs have been selected to participate in the Changemakers accelerator:
Be Change, Compensate, Empower, Goodwings, Jaaxx, Nature Preserve, Plan M, Resirqel and We Unite Design.
