Nordea adopts the AI challenge

The online course “Elements of AI” was launched with the goal of training 1 per cent of the world’s population in AI, artificial intelligence. Today, the course is launched in Swedish, and Nordea is one of the companies that are participating from the start and supporting the initiative.

There is an increasing focus and interest in AI – and the desire for knowledge in the area is considerable. A year ago, a free online course about AI was launched in Finland, with the goal that 1 per cent of the country’s population – and thereafter that of the world’s – would attend the course.

After the course’s success in Finland, that country’s Minister of Economic Affairs challenged Anders Ygeman, Sweden’s Minister for Energy and Digital Development to do the same thing – and the challenge was accepted.

Today, 15 May, the course is being launched in Sweden and to ensure that it is widely spread, the organisers have challenged a number of companies to join and support the initiative. Nordea has accepted the challenge and this is what Casper von Koskull, Group Chief Executive Officer, says about the initiative

At Nordea we are passionate about AI, and what it will mean for our customers in terms of making banking faster, more convenient and a lot easier. Investing in our employees’ knowledge is the key enabler for this transformation.

The AI call-up means that Nordea’s employees in Sweden are able to attend “Elements of AI” – an online course in basic AI knowledge which is considered to be one of the best free online courses in the world.
