At Nordea, we believe that hands-on experience is what creates true understanding and ultimately real change. In this mini-documentary, Sasja Beslik takes you with him on a journey to some of the planet’s most climate exposed places, shedding light on the severity of climate change and the solutions available.
For two decades, Sasja Beslik has relentlessly advocated for the industry’s responsibility to combat climate change, stressing the urgency of transitioning to a better way of doing business.
– We made this film with the objective to show you the real people affected by climate change. In this industry, it is easy to get caught up in numbers and reports. We must understand that it is people, like you and me, who fall victims when companies don’t adapt quick enough or act irresponsibly. Meeting men and women, whose children cannot play outside anymore due to pollution, or businesses that must close due to droughts and floods really breaks your heart, says Sasja Beslik.
Being the largest bank in the Nordic region, he believes that Nordea’s focus on sustainability can have a significant impact on the entire sector. As a financial player that takes pride in being a forerunner when it comes to becoming more climate- and ESG-oriented, we have an obligation towards our customers and investors to predict and price risks, find scalable solutions for the future and listen to experts and business-owners as well as locals.
– It is not only our duty as fellow humans, but as responsible bankers we really need to price the risk, find investment opportunities with sustainable companies and contribute to a better future for coming generations, says Sasja Beslik.
